The Visiting Way Tea-Sharing lived Experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members
Thursday June 4, 2026 7:45pm - 8:45pm MDT
Kiyokêwin: The Visiting Way — Opening Space Through Story, Listening and Relational Learning
Rooted in the spirit of Keeoukaywin (or Kiyokêwin), often understood as “the visiting way” this session invites educational leaders into a relational space of story, listening, and shared learning. Drawing on Indigenous ways of knowing and being, participants will gather in 2 round-table conversations that honour visiting as a practice of connection, humility, reciprocity, and respect.

Through a living-library style format, speakers will generously share lived experiences that open conversation around identity, belonging, human rights and the complexities of Diversity, Equity and Human Rights work in schools and communities. Participants will be invited to listen with care, hold complexity with grace and reflect on what it means to lead in ways that affirm dignity, relationship and collective responsibility.

This session is offered with deep gratitude for the stories, wisdom and lived experiences being shared. It is an invitation to enter the conference through presence, humility and a commitment to learning from one another.
